1.    Compare between two of Baumrind’s parenting styles’ characteristics of parenting that include two examples that you create. How does each of the parenting styles’ play a role in the child’s emotional regulation? Be sure to choose two different age groups (infants, toddlers, preschoolers, early elementary) for each parenting style you chose to discuss.
2.    Explain the importance of engaging infants and toddlers in varied enriched environments during the brain’s critical periods of development. What impact does it have on a young child’s brain architecture and pruning? Create at least one example for each question.
3.    How can parents and caregivers/teachers use play to enhance the development of gross & fine motor skills. Describe at least two examples of specific environments that foster a child’s physical development. Answer must address each age group: infants, toddlers, preschoolers, early elementary.
4.    Analyze similarities and differences between theory of mind and perspective-taking. Create a scenario portraying each which includes how you would assist a young child develop each. How can we determine if a child has a theory of mind and why would it be a significant aspect of understanding social cognition?
5.    Discuss what empathy is and how it is affected by a child’s cognitive development. Does it empathy play a role in a child’s emotional intelligence and their likelihood of exhibiting prosocial behaviors? Explain. Give an example of how you would promote a young child’s development of empathy.
